Hello there, my name is Nelson Cottier and I created this blog to help people who are completely new at golf and want to learn the game. I currently live in Santa Cruz, CA with my amazing wife Michele Cottier who has been a nurse for over 30 years. We love to travel each year to Kaanapali, Maui and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. I travel a lot for my job around the United States as well.
I’ve been an avid golfer since 1996. My dad was a scratch golfer and I learned a lot about the game from him. Michele has been asking me to teach her how to play golf for a few years, and I recently bought her a starter set. I’ve helped a lot of people get better at the game with one simple suggestion from what I’ve learned. Of course, I always ask permission before I do. I will be journaling what she is learning and how I am helping her along her journey. At some point, she will get lessons from a local PGA Professional when the time comes.
I am learning to write a blog for the first time. I’ve never done this before and it’s a steep learning curve for sure! We will be learning together!
I work for a Software as a Service (SaaS) company that sells DNS and Security solutions as a Senior Manager of Solution Architecture at Infoblox. I lead a high performance team of Solution Architects who support enterprise customers in the West region. I love what I do and enjoy working with my team, our customers, and working at Infoblox.
